This is where our water source originates.
Ancient rains and snowmelt of the Victorian Alps high country seep slowly through moss and peat beds, heaths and snow gum forests, tumble down waterfalls and creep through ferny gullies, through the geology of Mount Bogong and Tawonga Fault scarp, filtering deep down past mineralising rocks and clays to arrive in our artesian aquifers, which are protected and encased by granite bedrock.
We get the “first taste” of the fine water that comes from beneath Mount Bogong, with no industry or agriculture in between. The purity of our water is reflected in extremely low Nitrate levels, which indicate an unspoiled water source.
Plentiwater's water is over 100 metres deep below the ground, in artesian aquifers that are confined between layers of relatively impermeable granite bedrock, and the weight of that rock puts the water under pressure.
Once tapped, the water from our aquifers rises up to the land surface through natural artesian pressure. This also known as an artesian well.
